Security and Safety
SafeUniSC Security and Emergency Management ensures the safety and wellbeing of students, staff, and visitors by providing:
- Personal safety escorts
- Emergency call points
- Security patrols
- University SafeZone personal security app
- Security systems, including ID cards, Access control, CCTV, Locking and keying systems
We work closely with emergency services (Police, Fire, Ambulance) and lead emergency response efforts, including first aid, fire safety, and building evacuations.
Additionally, we focus on emergency planning, critical incident management, and special projects to enhance campus safety.

Safer Communities
Safer Communities is a Student Wellbeing service offering free and confidential support to students who have experienced or witnessed behaviors that may cause fear, offence, or trauma. If you are concerned about any behavior, we are here to support you and encourage you to reach out.
SafeZone mobile app
As part of the University’s commitment to personal safety, staff and students can download a free mobile phone application called ‘SafeZone’ from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.
In the event of an emergency, the app allows you to quickly share your location and details with the University security team who will be able to get the right assistance to you.

Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP)
A PEEP is designed for staff and students experiencing temporary or permanent mobility impairment, where they may require assistance during an emergency i.e. evacuating a building. To request support please contact SafeUniSC and our staff will assist in developing a personalised plan specific to the needs of the individual.

The campus safety and security maps highlight emergency call points and assembly areas for each campus.
First aid
A list of First Aid officers for each campus is accessible to UniSC staff via MyUniSC. If a First Aid officer is unavailable in your area, please contact Safe UniSC at 5430 1168. All Safe UniSC officers are trained in first aid and ready to assist. You can also attend a SafeUniSC Security office for first aid assistance.
